My Dirty Thirty Tokidoki Birthday Party

IMG_8935

I had been planning this party 2 months prior.  I was debating to have a party or not.  After numerous, "You should have a party!  You're turning 30!", it was decided that I would.  You know me and themes...and it no doubt it my mind it HAD to be a tokidoki theme.

I have been in love with tokidoki since I saw it while on vacation in Hawaii.  It was newly released as Le Sport Sac bags...after that ... my wallet has never recovered. :P

Anyways, first off, decor!  What was I going to do?  I contacted tokidoki if they had anything that they don't need anymore from their stores (posters, cardboards, etc).  They replied that they didn't provide these for customers.  I did order a box of frenzies for my party favors and they also hooked it up with stickers.  Their customer service peeps were awesome!  Big ups to Danielle and Trisha at their headquarters!  I ended up using my tokidoki toys, skateboard decks, and print outs as my decor.

Next was the cake.  I was debating also if I was going to do my own cake!  Then I thought to myself about all the things I would need to do during that week, as well as make my bff's birthday cake (her bday is a day after mines!).  So I started hunting for a cake decorator.  I was looking for someone who had a specific style (kinda like mine).  Then low and behold, Ron (the hubster), finds his friend on FB whose gf made cakes.  I looked at her cakes and fell in love.  A woman after my own heart!  I booked her asap!  Check her out at L.A. Cake !

At the tokidoki LA store off Melrose getting my tokidoki kicks.

My "Blind Box" Party favors.  They either had a tokidoki pin or tokidoki frenzie.  They also had the option of a bag of candy with a tokidoki sticker.

Our Anniversary

12 Years ago (or so), Ron and I had our first official date at Disneyland.  We decided to celebrate our 2nd year wedding anniversary there yesterday.  ;D

When we got there, we got our anniversary pins from city hall and then grabbed a corn dog.  Then rushed to watch Captain EO.  Boy, was I getting teary eyed watching it. =X

Then we were going to be late for the Aladdin show at CA Disney.  We had 20 minutes til showtime so we rushed from Tomorrow Land all the way to Hollywood.  We made sure to watch it before it has it's last curtain call on August 15.  They are replacing it with a Toy Story play I believe.  The Genie was hilarious.  He clowned on the Miami Heat about having wishes and told Aladdin he was like Jacob (and Bella) cause he had abs.  It was the funniest Aladdin show I've seen.

After the show, we got our annual passes and took some random pics.

Go Dodgers!  So wanted these Mickey Ears but they were $20!

This by far has to be my most favorite reading picture!  I know my students will get a kick out of this one!

Happy Anniversary to US!

Then we ate at Ariel's Grotto for the World of Color Experience.  Reservations is a must!

Oh and look what they have now!  I wanted to buy one, but I didn't want to mess it up!

World of Color was AMAZING!  I felt like I was 5 years old again!

Overall it was a great celebration!  Many more to come!

Today I played with gumpaste and fondant.  I am taking my final course for decorating cakes.  I'm so excited.  I made a ribbon today, but it fell apart when I got home, cause it wasn't dry enough yet.  No worries, I'll make another one tomorrow.  On our last class, we have to make a final cake and I don't know how I'm going to decorate it.  I'm thinking of course, orange and pink.

Speaking of orange and pink, it's our 2nd year anniversary on Monday!  We decided no gifts for each other since we got an annual pass to Disney and will be ordering our iPhone4s.  I hope to order "our" cake from the bakery that made our cake.  It feels like we've been married for more than 2 years though!  This year did mark our 12 years together.  Crazy right?

BTW, 3 more weeks til I go back to work.  Teachers starts Aug 4 and kiddos start Aug 9.

Fun filled week last week!

Watched Eclipse on opening night with  niece and nephews.  We watched the "Twilight Experience" in which they showed all 3 movies. ;D  It was pretty fun.

The following day we went to DLand.

On Saturday, we hiked to the "Bridge to Nowhere" in Azusa.  I was so scared to go.  I'm not an outdoor person, nor am I fit to do such a crazy hike.  As you can see, I'm here and blogging.  I surived climbing rocks and walking mountain sides, crossing rivers and running away from rattle snakes. =)  It was a 12 mile round trip hike.

Yesterday, we just hung out with family and watched fireworks from my Aunt's house and watched Grownups with the cousins.

Ron has no work today so I'm pretty happy. He's downstairs playing PS3 for once. ;D

Oh ..hello!

It's been almost a year since I posted on here.  So many things have happened.  I'll save it for later.  Now that it's summer vacation time from work, I have plenty of time on my hands to blog.

We have finally settled down into our new home.  Our 1 year home anniversary is coming up on July 4th. =)  Furniture buying is all done.  =)  We finally had our house warming last Saturday.

Maybe I'll finally do a post on our wedding day. :P
